The tree planting exercise is to herald the President's own Initiative to be launched on the 11th June, 2021. The Mayor together with other stakeholders including the Pentecost Church planted 500 seedlings. TMA is embarking on this project to replace all over age trees that were planted over 60 years ago whose roots have now become a nuisance, disturbing underground utility infrastructure. These include electrical cables, pipe mains and sewerage lines.

The target is to plant 5,000 trees throughout the metropolis by end of year.
