The Tema Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) moved in swiftly yesterday to avert an inferno at the Tema Timber Market.

But for the timely intervention of Fire Personnel stationed at the Industrial Enclaves, the situation could have escalated.

Hon.Yohane Amarh Ashitey, Tema Mayor, had to rush to the Timber Market, immediately information reached him, to provide the needed support to enable the Fire Personnel bring the situation under control. He tasked NADMO to conduct the necessary inventory to ensure that affected persons are provided with support.

Hon. Ashitey, called on the GNFS to conduct thorough investigations to establish the real cause of the Fire outbreak to inform the Assembly’s next line of action.
