Her Excellency Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Denmark, has today visited Tema as part of her two day official tour of Ghana.
The Danish PM had earlier called on the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo at the Jubilee House in Accra. The visit by the Prime Minister to Ghana is to further strengthen the sixty year old diplomatic relations between Denmark and Ghana. Tema has since 2019 signed a Sister partnership with Aarhus, a Port City in Denmark. The Mayor of Tema, Hon.Yohane Amarh Ashitey received the Danish Prime Minister and her delegation at the Chemu Lagoon enclaves, Tema Manhean.
The Danish Premier was in Tema to acquaint herself with progress made so far with the ongoing Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) between Tema and Aarhus. She thanked the Mayor, Chiefs and people of Tema for their warm reception and gave the assurance that the Cooperation will be sustained for the mutual benefit of all.
In his welcome statement, Hon.Ashitey expressed his profound appreciation to the Prime Minister and her Team for their historic visit, pledging that the Assembly will ensure that the planned resuscitation of the Chemu Lagoon and the reconstruction of the entire Tema Sewerage Network will be successfully delivered under the "make Tema Shine" agenda.
Present to grace the occasion were the Acting President of Tema Traditional Council, Nii Adjetey Agbo, Tema Mankralo, the National Dean of Presiding Members, Hon Joseph Korto, The Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Alhaji Shehu Kadiri and other Officials from TMA, Ghana Water Company and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.
